Sunflower
It's about a sunflower and how I destroyed it—a different, more destructive form of art. I ruined the piece with a single stroke. The sunflower, for me, is tied to Ukraine and to Ivan Drach's poem The Ballad of the Sunflower:
"Poetry, my orange sun!
Every minute, some boy
Discovers you for himself,
And changes into a sunflower forever."
But I just took the sunflower and scattered it completely. It’s about energy driven by anger, about chaos with its own poetic beauty, because poetry exists in everything. It’s also about Ukraine, being destroyed now like that sunflower. But the poetry will live on no matter what, even in harsh times, and so will Ukraine.
Sunflower is about poetry, Ukraine, and act.
